My name is Pearl Rose, daughter of Toni Matt. I am setting up this funeral fundraiser to help cover the costs of the services and plot space. This is truly heartbreaking to have to write, and none of us were prepared for her passing. So any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

There is so much to say about my mom. Honestly don’t know where to start. She raised me with so much love, strength(because I was truly a wild child) and persistence. She never gave up on me, and I wouldn’t be who I am now if it wasn’t for her. She was always the home where all my friends would come to just hang out and get fed, even when I wasn’t there. I will always be grateful for everything she was and everything she taught me. From being a strong independent woman, to showing up and helping wherever I go, to be the mom I am now.

She was also the best grandmother, always spoiling her grand babies with love and way more things than they could ever need. And she loved every minute of it. Even when she wasn’t feeling her best towards the end, she still made a point to show up at her granddaughter’s soccer games to cheer them on, and I know they will always cherish every moment they got with her.

This didn’t just stop outside our family as well. She was always doing so much for so many people. From work to community to her extended family and friends. Always giving, loving, compassionate. She would give her last dollar to you if you needed, even if that meant top roman and white rice for her. She loved serving her community as much as she could. She was truly the definition of humility and love.

The more I hear about her impacts she has had on everyone who got to spend time with her and be around her, the more I see that she was this way with everyone. Always loved all the littles, auntie to everyone, and brought so many smiles wherever she went.

We will all miss her so much, though I know the work she has put into the community will always be around and the impact she’s had on so many will never go away.
