In 2009, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from GVSU with his B.A. in Criminal Justice. He also graduated from GRCC Police Academy in 2009. He went on to work as a Cadet with the Kent County Sheriff Office from 2008 to 2010, Officer at Kentwood Police Department from 2011 to 2012 and a Deputy with the Kent County Sheriff Office from 2012 to 2022.

He was a loyal, loving and kind Husband, Father, Stepfather and Son. He is survived by his loving wife, Ashley Aranda, their four children Lucy (13), Sam (9), Nathan (14) Charlie (10), his parents Anne Aranda de Gay and Marcelo Gay Guerra, sisters Cecilia Gay Aranda, Anne Gay Aranda and four nieces.
Marcelo has been cremated and funeral arrangements (in Michigan) are pending.
