Funeral and end of life expenses for Jasmine Le

My name is Amanda Iqbal and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Jasmine Le and her husband, Brian Nguyen. The money will go towards Jasmine Le’s funeral and end-of-life expenses under the discretion of Brian and her family.

My best friend, a beautiful and vivacious young woman with her whole life ahead of her, started having intermittent pain in her midsection in Summer 2020. She immediately went to the doctor to run several tests and by November, she received a devastating diagnosis that no 31-year-old should ever have to hear: Stage 4 colon cancer. Jasmine’s condition escalated quickly, and by this time, the cancer had already silently invaded her liver, lungs, ovaries, and peritoneum. She was immediately admitted to MD Anderson Cancer Center to start aggressive chemotherapy under the care of some of the best cancer doctors in the world, and she fought hard for 9 long months.

Sadly, chemotherapy became less effective over time and Jasmine has recently made the difficult decision to stop treatment and enter hospice to live out the remainder of her life in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family and close friends. The hospice nurse has given us a short timeline of a couple of weeks, and it breaks our hearts to see someone deteriorate so quickly right before our eyes. Jasmine is currently bedridden, unable to walk or stand on her own, she has not eaten in over 3 weeks, and she is barely able to speak. Unfortunately, Jasmine had to stop working early on and it was too late to get her life insurance, so I’d like to raise money so that her husband and family won’t have to think about a heavy financial burden during such a tragic time.

Jasmine is a warrior, and she is the embodiment of what a best friend and good wife should be. She maintained an unbridled sense of optimism and humor throughout her journey despite the countless hurdles and setbacks, and her courage inspired many of those around her. I feel so lucky to have known someone so brave.
