Funeral and Cultural Support for a First Nation Family
A respected and deeply loved First Nation mother, grandmother, friend and community member has recently passed on.
Despite being subjected to the harms from the 60
s
coop, they lived with strength and resilience to live life in a profoundly beautiful way in Walking in Beauty.
The family's grief is still heavy, and the responsibility of honoring their life in a culturally appropriate way comes with significant emotional and financial challenges.
This fundraiser has been created to support the family during this sacred time by helping to:
- Cover funeral and memorial expenses rooted in First Nation traditions
Provide access to travel to their homelands to access cultural traditional ceremonies that are essential for mourning, healing, and honoring their spirit
Meet basic needs while family members travel, gather, and carry out the responsibilities of ceremony and care
In many First Nation communities, the journey after death is honoured with traditional rites that require time, travel, and collective support. These practices are important, only to lay their loved one to rest in a good way, also to support the well being of those left behind.
Every donation, no matter the amounthelps lift the burden from the family’s shoulders and allows them to focus on what matters most: grieving, honoring, and healing through culture and connection.
Your kindness, prayers, and generosity mean more than words can say. Thank you for walking with this family in their time of sorrow and ceremony.
Whether through a donation, a share, or a prayer, your kindness is valued.
Thank you for standing with the family as they honour their loved one and carry forward the strength of their teachings.
