Funeral & Medical Expenses for Reyes Family

Hello, my name is Maddie Legaspi and I started this go fund me page in efforts to raise money for my family back home in the Philippines. 

In the summer before my freshman year of college, I received the news that my grandma and Tito Boy were in critical condition. She is a mother of 9, with two of her children being in the US. One of those children is my mother, Rizza Reyes. Anyone who knows me, knows that my mom is my closest friend. I could feel her pain and heartbreak from across the world as she flew out to spend time with my grandma before she passed. 

A couple months pass, and I soon started off college with the heaviest weight on my heart. I found out I would not be able to spend another day listening to my Nanay’s jokes through FaceTime. I found out I would no longer be able to be in the presence of my funny uncle Tito Boy. I placed myself in my mom’s shoes and shared her pain. All I could think about was if I were ever to lose her, I would lose the biggest part of me.

Fast forward to my 4th year in college, we received the news that  my Tita Laila and Lolo (my grandpa) are in the hospital. My Tita Laila passed away two weeks ago. It made me realize how sad I am to have never spent time with her, or rather my whole family in the Philippines. I was not able to bond with her, get to know her... Which leads me to hoping that at least my mom will be able to fly back out to spend time with her dad. Because I know how crucial it is to be able to just be in the company of the people you love the most.. 

However, I have just been made aware that until this day, our family is still in the process of paying off the hospital bills that accrued to keep my grandma and uncle alive. 

I am reaching out to you guys, all my friends & family, for anything. Even if it's so much as a message of love and prayer for my family back home in the Philippines. I am hoping to raise money so that I could send this to them, to just try and relieve them of the only thing I can control, which is financial support. I am hoping to raise money so that my mom can pay for a ticket and the necessary accommodations she would need to stay in the 2-week quarantine in the Philippines. I am hoping to raise money so that my family can grieve without the interruption of financially-related issues.
