ABOUT THE LOVE MOLLIE BOOK CAMPAIGN:
Hi! I'm Dana Lyn
The Lord blessed me with the sweetest rescue dog in 2015, but it was not without its challenges.
He used Mollie's little life and her heart worm healing journey to heal my heart and bring much revelation about His patience and love.
I know that the Love Mollie children's book will be a tool for healing so many little hearts.
Mollie was a foster dog and subsequently adopted so the story has a theme of healing, overcoming rejection, building trust, and allowing hearts to be open to love again.
I would be honored if you would partner with me to fund the completion of the project to get it in the hands of the parents and children the Lord has intended it for.
The funds raised will go toward book production expenses.
The first thing on the agenda is hiring an illustrator to bring her story to life, and the remaining will cover the expenses for layout, editing, publishing, marketing, and selling the book.
WHERE WE ARE IN THE PROCESS
The project is on target to be completed in 2026!
The steps of character development, story boarding, and much of the printing and publishing planning work has been completed.
The majority of the funds will go to artwork costs as it will be a beautifully illustrated, full color, hard cover book.
WHY I CREATED THE CHILDREN'S BOOK
Mollie was my Blue Heeler rescue pup and she was a blessing in my life for 7 awesome adventure filled years.
I want her life to leave a legacy. The time we spent together was not only God's gift of life to her as she would have been put down, but also a tremendous gift to me! I know that her story will touch many hearts.
I always knew that I was going to write a book about our story, but the Lord downloaded the outline to me in 6 hours just a couple months before Mollie's passing in the summer of 2023. She had began to decline quickly from degenerative disc disease, but she faithfully laid in her bed next to me as I wrote.
I was inspired to write the story from my personal experience of adopting Mollie during her heart worm journey. She had experienced a lot of trauma before I met her which caused her to be scared and not trust easily. The Lord used this pup to teach me about the ways in which we operate similarly when we have been hurt and wounded.
When I adopted her at the DFW Rescue Me booth at the State Fair of Texas, I had high expectations that there would be immediate love and trust like many pup owner interactions I had experienced in life.
However, navigating her health care journey along with her emotions wasn't easy. I initially mistook her hurt heart and disconnected and dissociated state as rejection towards me.
I even tried to give her back as I felt she would be happier in a home with children or other pets.
Although I was focused on taking care of her physical needs to the best of my ability, I quickly learned that taking care of her emotional needs required so much more patience and understanding.
I handled her anxiety and skittish behavior better once I was gently guided by the adoption counselor to LOVE her until her walls came down and she could trust me.
So, a few weeks passed, and with consistency she became my shadow.
Being an Inner Healing + Deliverance Minister of 5 years now, I interact with many parents and children with challenging behaviors and relationships due to woundedness that has come from abuse, rejection, and betrayals.
We learn in 1 Peter 4:8 that love covers a multitude of sins. This is true in overlooking minor offenses, choosing grace, and forgiveness.
Love is the salve that softens a heart that has been hardened, and builds trust for one that fears opening up. Love is patient and kind.
Although this book will speak to all children and parents, I developed this story with foster and adopted children in mind. It portrays a spotted dog with a beautiful and unique cookies and cream coat with big caramel eyes. She was on the streets, in foster homes, and subsequently adopted by a woman who was willing to love her despite her rejective behaviors.
Mollie had heart worms, but her little heart was also sick from being on the streets and in chaotic, unstable, and abusive environments.
The book ends with a deliberate twist of God speaking to the woman about letting her guard down and opening her heart to Him.
This message speaks to God's patience, love, and grace in our journey of surrendering and trusting in Jesus. We must remove our self protective barriers and let His truth and perfect love flow to heal our hearts.
I pray that the Love Mollie children's book will be a powerful tool to help all parents not only those with foster and adopted children.
My hope is that it will be easy to bring a child into the story and open conversations and little hearts so that love can break through in every home that it lands in!
I am so grateful for each and every donation. Every little bit helps to move the book forward!
May God bless you for your generosity!
Many blessings,
Dana Lyn
