Funds for Grieving Mom Lexi
Lexi is a caring friend, diligent worker, and resourceful mom dealing with the loss of her beloved daughter Annicka. We met while working together this past summer as thrift store cashiers, where Lexi is a shift manager.
Lexi recently suffered a huge loss. Her six year old daughter Annicka passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 29th. Annicka was a preemie (born 2 months early by emergency C-section, weighing only 2lbs 13oz) and suffered from a rare genetic condition called Nemaline Myopathy, which impairs breathing, swallowing, speaking and mobility due to muscle weakness. Despite these health challenges, Annicka was rarely ill and had been making great progress. Annicka and Lexi celebrated all the small successes and growing moments together each day.
Anyone who knows Lexi knows how deep her dedication to providing the best life possible for Annicka ran. Right after her daughter's birth, Lexi learned as much as she could about Annicka's medical needs so that she could come live at home despite the severe shortage of homecare nurses. Eventually, Lexi was able to become a PCA for Annicka and received income through a state waiver program. This state support allowed them a sense of stability, eventually moving to a duplex with more space back in 2016.
Lexi is now struggling financially on top of the incredibly difficult and painful process of grieving the loss of her daughter. She's worried about making rent, affording food and essentials, and paying other bills like her cell phone and credit card.
