Brandi's Home & Med Equipment Needs

Brandi is a strong young woman & mother who has battled degenerative disc disease since the age of 10, Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 14 and Addison's disease since the age of 18. She also suffers from seizure disorder and autonomic neuropathies of the heart, intestines, esophagus, bladder and bowels, as well as painful sensory neuropathy in both legs and feet. She has had more than 50 hospitalizations in recent years and has recently been place in palliative care.

We refuse to place Brandi in an assisted living center but in order for Brandi to live a safe, qualitative life at home we will need to provide her with basic medical equipment and make modifications to our home to accommodate them.

Our goals:

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT:

Power Chair ($3000)

Alternating Air Flow Mattress (to help heal current bed sores and prevent new ones) ($3,500)

Stair Lift ($3,000)


HOME MODIFICATIONS:

Convert closet to bathroom (sink, handicap toilet, grab bar)

Green label carpet (low bacteria, easier maneuverability for her walker and wheelchair. Recommended for handicapped homes)

Repair or replace driveway to make wheelchair accessible

Install concrete ramp to access Brandi’s room

Replace sliding door with French doors to make wheelchair accessible
