Born at 24 Weeks, Fighting Strong

On April 16th, our beautiful son Ananias Billy Joseph Spade came into the world far too early, born at just 24 weeks gestation and weighing only 2.4 lbs. His arrival was sudden and unexpected, and we’ve been in London, Ontario ever since — by his side every single day as he fights the hardest battle of his life in the NICU.

Shortly after birth, Ananias developed a severe case of NEC (necrotizing enterocolitis), a serious intestinal condition that required urgent surgery. Thanks to the incredible medical team and his own resilient spirit, he pulled through the procedure and is now in recovery. He has grown to 4.4 lbs, showing us every day just how strong and determined he is.

Though we are incredibly grateful for how far he has come, his journey is far from over. Ananias will need another surgery in the near future, and we will continue to stay in London to support him for as long as it takes.

Being away from home for so long has created a heavy financial burden — between accommodations, food, travel, and lost income, it’s been overwhelming. We’re humbly asking for any support to help ease these costs so we can continue focusing on what matters most: being here for our son as he grows, heals, and continues to fight.

A very special thank-you to the entire NICU team and the incredible surgeons here in London. Your skill, dedication, and compassion have carried us through some of the hardest days of our lives. We are endlessly grateful for the care you’ve given Ananias and the support you’ve shown our family.
