Hello friends:
I'm Dr. Ameho, a Nutritionist by training. As some of you are aware, about a month ago there was a necessary spillage from the Akosombo dam in Ghana which resulted in the flooding of towns downstream of the dam in the Volta Region of Ghana. The worst hit towns in this flooding are Mepe and Battor townships where an estimated thirty thousand people or more have lost their homes and livelihoods altogether. Indeed recent updates suggest that over forty-five (45) towns and communities from Tongu north, through Tongu central to Tongu south are flooded.
In the immediate aftermath and still ongoing, relief efforts and items are pouring into the town which is a good sign. There will however be several challenges when the immediate relief effort is over and the people have to rebuild. Among the anticipated challenges include Nutrition and Health issues, especially enteric infections post-flooding, with the most vulnerable populations being the seniors and children.
I’ve formed a partnership with Dr. Prince Hodogbey, a physician in Chicago, Dr Atsu Amegashie, an economist in Canada, Dr, Emefa Tamakloe, an educator and child health expert in the USA to raise funds to help with sustenance while rebuilding. Our goal for this fundraiser is a minimum of $250, 000 with a view for the long-term health during re-building. I appeal to your generosity to help in any way you can so we can safe-guard their health as they begin the rebuilding process. Thank you in advance for your generous donation. God bless :)
