So we found out last week that my son, Payton, who just turned 16 on February 27th, has Non Hodgkin's, Large cell, Lymphoma. For the last month he has probably had every test you can imagine to figure out what he had. Since then, which was just last monday, he has had countless lab tests drawn, ultra sounds, Echo test, PET scan, bone marrow test, two surgeries , one to put in a device in his chest called a port. Through this process, Payton has been so brave, asking questions about his meds he will be taking even. We picked up 8 meds on Friday that he will be taking, and may have to add to that, if he gets depressed from the steroid he will be taking. We are not sure yet how often we will need to drive to Grand Rapids to the Helon Devos children's hospital, for the chemo treatment and anything else that might spring up such as transfusions, etc. We live 45 minutes away from there. Obviously, I will be taking lots of time from work, if I work at all, at this point, I'm more worried about bringing germs into the home since he will have a compromised immune system. Especially with all that's going on right now. I work through Shipt doing grocery delivery, and usually work 5 to 6 days a week. So my paycheck will be missed, and I'm not sure at this time how we will pay our regular household bills, let alone extra doctor bills from this. But this is the reality of the next year for us.. My son will need me to be his caretaker Im sure. All who know me, know I hate fo ask for help on anything, but in this case, I think we will be overwhelmed with debt, and we cant afford to lose a car, or our house which we just got into a year ago. So if you can help, awesome and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
