Help Our Father, Wayne, with Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
In 2022, our father had a spinal column stroke which left him with mobility challenges. Our mom kept him in line and aware of the point where he may be pushing himself too much.
In July, mom was admitted to Regional hospital with some breathing issues - she was discharged after a transfer to the VG in Halifax to have her lung drained of fluid. On August 1 of this year our mom was diagnosed with cancer, based on a biopsy of her lung. We remained hopeful that with treatments she would still have years left - her wish was to see her only grandchild graduate in 2028. A PET scan was performed on September 13. The report showed that the cancer had metastasized and spread significantly through her body - it was in her lung, kidney, bones, lymphnodes and part of her stomach.
We had been hopeful she would have been able to receive treatment, but she was admitted to the Regional hospital on September 7 with a lung infection. Her health decline was extremely quick and sudden. On October 2, our mom passed away after a short, but fearless battle with cancer. She had held on until her son could make it home from Alberta, so she was surrounded by her family.
Both of our parents, like so many other seniors, were on a fixed income and unfortunately, they did not have any arrangements already made. Their children are assisting financially as much as possible to help with funeral arrangements.
On the same day that our mom passed away, our father was told that his car was no longer road-worthy and would cost quite a lot to repair, this is on top of another costly repair just done on the same vehicle within the last year.
We would greatly appreciate any donations to help with funeral expenses and funds to go toward a safe vehicle for our father.
