Geordi the tripod needs help!

Geordi, a declawed tripod,  was rescued from BARCS……he had been left behind without food and water after his owners moved and was in very poor shape (2/9 scoring) when rescued.    Initially he was eating pretty well and seemed to be improving and even got a fairly clean bill of health from the vet on Wednesday (Sept 13) but the following day started vomiting and had a loss of appetite.  This poor guy who is about 10 years old, only weighs in at 5.3 pounds so we were very concerned about these new symptoms along with the diarrhea he’s had for a while.  He can’t afford to lose weight!  Oh, and at the vet visit, it was also discovered this poor guy also had a urinary tract infection.   And of courses, he needs a dental too!   Geordi just can’t get a break.

He’s being treated with for his UTI and diarrhea and went in for a follow up vet visit on Friday, Sept 15th to address his vomiting and lack of appetite.  He got fluids for his dehydration, cerenia for his vomiting and an xray was done to take a look at his intestines but since he’s so thin, the detail was too poor to delineate organs.   Geordi just had an ultrasound which will show more detail.  The vet is concerned about chronic gastrointestinal disease such as maldigestion or inflammatory bowel disease.   We’ll post the results when we have them.

His foster reports back that Geordi is a very sweet boy who, despite what happened to him, wants to climb up in your lap, gets pets and give back purrs in thanks.   He’ll also reach out a paw to make contact with you and loves to look at you as he’s laying in your lap.

We didn’t anticipate the added costs of an xray ($150) ultrasound ($389) and meds and fluids so are reaching out to get some financial help from the cat lovers in the community.   We estimate needing at least $900 to cover the costs of his additional medical care.    Our budget is very tight but we just couldn’t say no to sweet Geordi so we are reaching out to all of you animal lovers out there.  Can you pitch in for this deserving boy?
