A young member of DC needs your support to be able to hire an immigration lawyer as soon as possible.

He suffered tremendous loss and persecution in his home country, which he fled in 2016, when he was 15 years old. He arrived in the UK all alone at the age of 16 in 2017, and has been in care here ever since. Unfortunately, there is now an imminent risk of him losing his care leaving support (which includes accommodation and financial support) now that his previous asylum claim has been refused.

While he had a legal aid lawyer assisting him with his claim, that lawyer did not make any contact with him since 2021 and did not inform him that his claim was refused in June 2022. He was only given this information by social services on 1st February 2024. He now faces imminent homelessness and destitution.

He is a wonderful, kind, talented and creative young person who loves to help people, particularly other young people that are forced to leave their homes and loved ones alone. He deserves the world.

We care very deeply about him and are appealing to you for your help to raise funds so that he can instruct a good and trustworthy legal representative to give him a fighting chance to stay in the UK. His safety depends on this.

Unfortunately, the legal aid advice sector for immigration and asylum has collapsed, and given the imminence of loss of care and consequent homelessness and destitution, the best way forward for this young person is to secure a legal representative on a private fee basis. For now, this will cost between £1500 - 3000, the latter amount needed for necessary reports that will strengthen his claim.
