Funds needed for School

Hi, my name is Alfee, and I am the proud mother of two twice-exceptional youth. Twice-exceptional, or 2e, means that they have special minds and are special learners, going from one end of the spectrum to its opposite with learning challenges and gifts. When we began to recognize this in my oldest, now 12 years old, the school system was unsure of how to serve and support my special learner. So, we started homeschooling- a privilege for which I am so thankful. During that year, we had the blessing of discovering a small, progressive community-school that focuses equally on social-emotional education and academics. Blessed again, we were offered generous financial aid. As a single parent on a minimal salary in social services, I was unable to commit to even the least amount of tuition, even with child support. The children's father said, "Our kids have to go here; I'll make it happen". And somehow he did, and he did graciously for over 3 years. The school so beautifully strived to meet the needs of my youth, that seriously sometimes I would weep when entering the building. Now, in year 4, we find ourselves in this pandemic, struggling in ways we could not have imagined or anticipated, growing in others and grateful along the way- the collective experience of the majority of us. Due to the financial impact of it, that extra that was found for tuition seems to be disappearing. We are behind in tuition payments and are in need of help to balance while we strategize moving forward. It is not easy to ask, but it feels better now that I've written this. I am thankful for you reading this, sharing this, considering my plea, and I wish you new and continued blessings.
