Support needed for Danny Tancredi’s Care
Donation protected
We introduce you to our dear friend of 50 years, Danny Tancredi, who has been bravely battling Parkinson’s disease since 2003. Now, he needs our help.
A Lifetime of Friendship and Love
It all began in River Vale, NJ, where Danny at 16, started working at the local A&P food store. This job led to lifelong friendships among the "A&P Crew," a tight-knit group who shared unforgettable years together from (1974-1980) working, socializing, and even spending a couple of summers in Surf City, L.B.I.
In 1981, Danny moved with his parents to Phoenix, Arizona. Not long after, he returned to the East Coast to ask his love, Christine, to join him in Arizona. She said yes, and they married in 1983, later settling into their forever home in Fountain Hills. Over the years, Danny’s family followed—his parents and eventually his sister, Donna, and her family in 1998.
Although the "A&P Crew" remained on the East Coast, they never lost touch with Danny, enjoying his company during a few reunions but it was crew member, Mike Buckley, who was always looking out for him with daily phone calls and frequent visits to Fountain Hills. Sadly, Mike passed away in 2023.
Danny’s Battle with Parkinson’s
Despite his Parkinson’s diagnosis at just 44, Danny worked for the Town of Fountain Hills, primarily with Parks & Rec, for 18 years before retiring. But in recent years, his condition has worsened significantly, leading to multiple hospitalizations and rehab stays. Now wheelchair-bound and nearly fully dependent on others, he requires full-time home care.
Private home care was essential but not covered by insurance, forcing Danny and Christine to deplete their 401k savings to cover 12-hour daily care, seven days a week. They have applied for Arizona’s Medicaid program (AHCCCS) which is a long and complex process. They’ve been accepted but state-provided care won’t begin until Fall 2025—leaving a critical gap in care and financial support.
Since December 2024, Danny has been hospitalized, then moved to rehab and currently in a nursing home, awaiting the transition back home when care is secured. Christine continues working full-time to maintain their home and health insurance, while Donna has been Danny’s strongest advocate, tirelessly navigating his medical needs.
How You Can Help
Danny has always been full of life, humor, and resilience. If you ask him how he keeps going, he'll tell you:
"I can’t wait till tomorrow… because I get better looking every day!"
Right now, he needs our help. Donations will go directly toward home care, medical expenses, and any unforeseen costs to ensure Danny gets the care he needs. His sister Donna will manage all funds to ensure they are used appropriately.
If you’re able to contribute, please know that any amount is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your generosity, love, and support for Danny and his family.
