Hi everyone,
I’m looking to raise money for the amazing Walton Centre because on the 19th of March 2025 they saved my Mum’s life on her birthday of all days…
Mum collapsed at home and despite calling 999 for help and making them aware that we suspect she is having a brain hemorrhage we was told a 2-3 hour wait, and that “there is a high demand in the area sorry”. So we made the choice to take her up to the nearest hospital ourselves, that being the Royal Liverpool so we got her in the car and got her up there just in time, upon arrival Mum lost consciousness and became critical.

When we recieved the diagnosis for Mum that she was in fact having a ‘subarachnoid hemorrhage’ she was swiflty transferred over to the Walton Centre, with very little time to process what was happening I was met with a team of specialist doctors and nurses who acted so fast to help my Mum and within minutes they had placed a lumber drain in my Mums spine to drain the blood and fluid what had leaked from her brain, whilst also prepping her to go into surgery to stop the bleed. Whilst my Mum was their main priority they still managed to support me and explain every move they made in detail to give me the reassurance that she was in the best place and is recieving the best care.

After Mums surgery she was put in the HDU and her journey was far from over, she was getting better then she was transferred over to ICU to be put into an induced coma for 24hr monitoring as there were concerns that her brain was having spazms, once mums doctor was happy with her responces she was then transferred back to HDU where we as a family and my Mum as a patient recieved the best physical and mental care and support from every single member of staff, nothing was too much for them even them being so busy with other patients they were more than happy to tend to everyone and their families, I have never recieved or seen this level of care from any other hospital before.

After a couple of weeks Mum was transferred upstairs onto another ward where she was still closely monitered and very well looked after, again all the staff couldn’t have done enough for us, I seen and recieved the care, support that they were giving to all patients and families, including every outstanding Doctor that came to see Mum explained everything to us all in the most understandble way and supported us with all our fears, questions and queries.

After a couple months of being in hospital my Mum was discharged and was able to come home to us with a care plan, and plans for future surgerys, and the fact my Mum is still here and has recovered so well is all thanks to every single member of staff at the Walton Centre, we will be forever debted to them all for every step of our journey with them, I still can’t believe how kind, caring and compassionate everbody was with us, they are really the heart of the hospital and deserve every bit of credit where possible.

They all do this daily without a hessiation, whilst we are putting our shoes on they will be putting their gloves on and saving somebodys life, or caring for somebody who needs them most somebodys Mum, Dad, Wife, Husband, Brother or Sister.

We’re very lucky to have a hospital in the UK.

All funds raised will be recieved by the Walton Centre Charity to fund medical research, support groups, cutting edge technology, and patient and family facilities.

Thank you to all staff and departments at the Walton Centre for saving my Mums life, and all the work you have done and continue to do, not all hero’s wear capes!❤️
