Funds for Sylvia Johnson
Donation protected
Hey Eden friends! I have known Sylvia Johnson since 1998. Pastor Wayne was responsible for my rededication to the Lord and then baptized me. I’ve often told my children that he and Sylvia prayed my firstborn into existence. I think everyone who knows Sylvia and knew Pastor Wayne has some kind of story about how they helped your family. I have many many stories. Sylvia has loved me so well all of these years, and she’s prayed more for me than anyone else in my life ever has. I know she’s prayed and loved many of you all as well. Sylvia did not and never would ask me to do this, but I know there are so many people that love her and/or loved Pastor Wayne that I want to share her needs (I do have her permission) so that we can all come together and serve her the way she has served so many of us.
As some of you know she has struggled financially since Wayne’s sudden death in 2015. She currently has two debts that she has from that time period that she makes low payments on each month. Those payments take much needed money from her bottom line in an already very tight monthly budget. She does not qualify for food stamps. She does not have extra money for “fun stuff” each month as every dollar is spent on food, bills, medical needs etc. When emergencies happen as they do to all of us (ie. Plumbing, vehicle issues, illness that requires more medication) she has to decide between those needs and a bill. She often skips meals due to having no food. Please read that again—— she often goes without food. Every time I throw away left overs or spend $10 at chicfila I feel guilty. Like all mothers Sylvia is proud of her children and of course wants to go see Zachary graduate in May. Imagine what a hotel, food and gas will cost and now try to imagine how she will possibly afford that.
I put this together in hopes that all of us will come together to assist Sylvia and relieve at least a little of the stress she feels daily. She currently owes approximately $7k for the two debts and another large bill that is now due. I estimate the trip to see Zachary will be approximately 1k. I would love to have enough left to stock her up on groceries and/or pay for any urgent repair items in her home or on her vehicle.
This Easter weekend, if Wayne or Sylvia in any way helped lead you to the One who came to save us all, please consider giving. If we all came together with just a small donation I know we could relieve this stress. Paying off those two debts alone will allow a little more “wiggle room” each month.
James 1:27 “Religion that God our father accepts as pure & blameless is this; to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”
