Funds for Surviving the Next Few Months
Donation protected
Hello all! If you don't know me, then allow me to introduce myself. My name is Willa, and I need your help.
I have Multiple Sclerosis, and am a designated Person With Disability that receives a monthly benefit of approximately $1160 per month from the government of British Columbia. This is only about half of what I need to survive month to month, so I usually have a part time job to make up the approximately $1000 shortfall. Until August of this year, I was working for Trees, a locally operated marijuana dispensary. On August 3rd, we were forced to close by the government. I immediately enrolled for EI, as finding a new job that meets my needs is incredibly difficult (I'm not a perfect candidate for manual labour, for example).
On September 9 I was awarded my first EI payment. On September 26, I was informed that my EI payments would be deducted from my disability benefits, dollar for dollar. This effectively rendered my EI moot, depriving me of the source of income I was counting on for the next few months. As well, my EI runs out in November, but with how disability benefits are calculated in BC, I stand to not receive any benefits, disability or otherwise, for December and January.
I am starting this GoFundMe in the hopes of raising the money I need to survive the next few months. It calculates needing rent for November, December, and January at $975/month, and living expenses for December and January. Thats $2,925 for three months rent, and $2,575 for living expenses. My living expenses include paying my bills, food, vitamins (very necessary when you have Multiple Sclerosis), and pain meds not covered by provincial insurance.
Any amount given will be massively appreciated and will relieve so much stress on my part. I have been homeless before and I would like to not repeat that. Thank you so much for reading, and if you are not able to donate, then please share!!
Thank you,
Willa
