Hi, I’m Dani, and this is my little cat, Finn.
Back in November 2020, just before another lockdown, I knew it was the right time to rescue a cat (adopt, never shop). With shelters closed, I posted on Facebook asking if anyone knew of a cat in need of a home. Someone replied saying their parents had been feeding a stray for months but couldn’t take him in because they already had elderly cats.
The moment I saw Finn, I knew it was meant to be. I picked him up the very next day.
He didn’t have the easiest start—he was riddled with worms and multiple infections. It took months of care to get him healthy, and although he improved, his immune system has never been the strongest. Still, we’ve overcome so much together. He isn’t just a pet—he’s my home, my comfort, and truly the love of my life.
A week before Christmas 2025, I noticed something wasn’t right. His breathing sounded laboured, like there was mucus in his lungs, and he was getting out of breath. I took him to the vet immediately, where he was treated for an upper respiratory infection.
But it never fully went away.
Over the next three months, I returned to the vet again and again as the infection kept coming back. Antibiotics would help temporarily, but within weeks, his symptoms would return. I began to feel like we weren’t getting answers—only more costs, with little investigation into the root cause.
The day before Easter, Finn took a turn for the worse. I made the decision to move to a new vet, and they have been incredible—seeing him the same day whenever I call.
Since then, Finn has had steroids, more antibiotics, blood tests, X-rays, and an ultrasound. This has now been our 9th
vet visit, and still we don’t have answers. 3 vets with over 30 years of experience reviewed his scans and found something concerning—but couldn’t determine exactly what it is.
The next step is to refer him to a specialist.
Unfortunately, this will take us beyond the limit of my insurance.
Finn is only 6 years old. My previous cat lived to 18, and I can’t bear the thought of not giving him the same chance.
People often say, “It’s so lovely you saved him.” But the truth is, Finn has saved me more times than anyone knows.
I don’t want to give up on him. I just want to do everything I can to give him the life he deserves.
I don’t have family who can support me financially, and asking for help like this isn’t easy. But Finn is the sweetest, most loving boy—you only have to meet him to understand. Even people who say they don’t like cats fall in love with him.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world to us. Every penny will go towards getting Finn the specialist care he urgently needs.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story
