Funds for Six Bullet Proof Vests
Tax deductible
On Thursday, April 26, two of the Greater Birmingham Humane Society Animal Control Officers were responding to a stray dog pick up call in a residential area when someone opened fire on them. They were not hit, thankfully. The ACO’s must have bullet proof vests and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society does not have funding. This issue CANNOT wait. Many animal control officers throughout the US are now outfitted with bullet proof vests. This trend started in 2016 after several ACOs were shot and/or killed while performing their duties. Luckily, the officers were working in as pair and both are highly trained NACA (National Animal Control Association) Animal control officers. The cost of each vest is approximately $500 - $700; I am trying to raise funds for at least 5 vests. This is an urgent need and these vests will provide life-saving protection for the very people who are trying to serve the animals and provide safety for the community of Birmimgham, AL.
