Funds for school in Nalang, Nepal

Donation protected
I (Paula Sothoron) am working on this fund raising campaign with Saligram Aryal, owner of Mountain World Treks and Expeditions based in Kathmandu, Nepal and chairman of Nalang Sewa Samaj.  NSS is a non-profit charitable organization established to aid schools and villages in rural Nepal.  You can learn more about NSS by going to our website: www.nalangsewasamaj.org or our Facebook page:https://m.facebook.com/nalangsewasamaj.

Currently, our team is working in Nalang village of the Dhading district of Nepal, where we are supporting one of the community schools.  The school is being managed by the community, but we (Nalang Sewa Samaj) are helping the village to pay the salaries of four teacher and we are trying to make a better library as well.  We have also decided to help the community to start a banana farming business which will be a continued source of income for the school.

There are at present, around 230 students in the school, ranging in age from kindergarten through grade 8 and 10 teachers.  Of those 10 teachers, the community needs to pay for four teacher's salaries (the other six teachers are paid by government subsidies).  Right now the community does not have the resources to pay these salaries.  Either we have to eliminate a couple of grades at the school or find funds to pay the teacher's salaries.  The problem is if we reduce the number of grades and run the school up to grade 5, then those older children from the village have to walk about 2-3 hours to go to school every day.  This situation would be very tough for these students.  For that reason, we are trying to raise funds to enable us to keep the school as it is now, as well as make improvements in its library.  For sustainablility, we are implementing banana farming which can be a profitable income source for the school and we don't have to invest big money for it.

Nalang Sewa Samaj is helping Nalang village and the school continuously, to give a better life to villagers and provide better education for the school children.   NSS is giving scholarships to 21 children (orphan, single parent and poor) since 2009.  NSS is going to continue its support for this project in the future and is hoping to get some contributions from all of you which will help us to do more.

Just think!  The children from Nalang don't have Ipods, computers, or cell phones.  They don't spend their days playing video games, watching MTV or playing games on their Iphones.  They have fun the good old-fashioned way....by playing soccer/football outside, playing with stone and mud, by coloring and drawing, making up imaginary games, and most importantly, by READING!  Yes, these children, despite all the odds being against them, coming from some of the harshest circumstances and backgrounds, are surviving and thriving!

So please consider donating to help NSS for banana farming, school library and to pay the salaries for the teachers.  I would love to help make this dream a reality for these amazing children, but I can only do it with your help! Every cent will help! Thank you!!!
