Hey y’all, some beautiful people in the community met Rene a few days ago at Lake Merritt. Once hearing her story they knew they had to find a way to support her. These people work in non-profit community based work and are supporting her at a hotel from their own pocket. However, they can’t afford to do this for many more days so we calling on our community as she is currently unhoused.

Rene is a woman in her 40s who loves creativity arts and expression and has spent time in culinary careers. She was raised in the bay and lived here most her life before going down to socal to pursue culinary and creative arts. After the building she was staying at sold pretty abruptly, she decided to come back to the bay. We see housing complex’s getting bought up and put back on the market for ridiculous prices all over cali—displacing people with roots, families, and/or not much to fall back on.

She was counting on staying with a friend of hers here in the bay but the friend reneged last minute and now she’s stuck. She’s a kindhearted hardworking woman who needs some funds to get on her feet for a security deposit and first month rent so she has somewhere to stay while she pursues work in culinary she’s already secured. If we can get 200+ people to donate 5-10 dollars, we can find secure housing for Rene. I’m praying and hoping the community will come through for this beautiful soul.
