Funds for Newborn's Open Heart Surgery

My name is Liz Armano, and I am creating this fundraiser for very close friends — Kelsey, Nancy, and their sweet baby boy, who is due to be born in November 2022.

After nearly 3 years of fertility treatments, Kelsey and Nancy feel an enormous amount of gratitude to be welcoming their son in November. He is so loved, so wanted, and their dream come true.

In August, 25 weeks into the pregnancy, their world was shaken when they found out their baby would be born with a rare and complicated heart and lung condition. The next day they traveled from their home in New York to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) where their unborn baby could be evaluated by some of the most advanced medical providers in the world. It was determined Kelsey will need to give birth to their son at CHOP so he can receive life-saving medical care, including open-heart surgery, when he’s born. Kelsey and Nancy will also need to relocate to Philadelphia in October so baby boy can be closely monitored leading up to his birth. Their son is expected to remain in the hospital for at least a month after his surgery, during which time Kelsey and Nancy will be by his side.

In addition to the emotional stress surrounding their son’s health, Kelsey and Nancy are faced with financial stress due to medical costs and the need to relocate to Philadelphia. For example, Kelsey and Nancy are paying out of pocket for all costs of living in Philadelphia, including apartment rent, food, parking, and gas.

I know alleviating financial stress for this deserving family during this unimaginable time would allow them to focus all their energy on caring for their son, who they already love more than anything.
