Walking 57KM for Neuroblastoma UK in Cara’s Memory
This February 29th marked four years since Cara died after enduring two and a half years of intensive treatment for Neuroblastoma and Relapsed Neoroblastoma. Cara was just three years old and she was fun loving, she cherished her brother and sister, family and friends and had a zest for life. She loved reading, painting, crafting and anything that could be done from a hospital bed! She was feisty and she was brave.
You can read Cara’s story on the Neuroblastoma UK website.
Neuroblastoma UK is a charity that focuses on and funds pioneering research into Neuroblastoma. Every year over 100 children are diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in the UK. For children with relapsed Neuroblastoma there is currently only a 10% chance that they will survive. The charity is working tirelessly to develop more effective and less punishing treatments.
As a group of lifelong friends, Kim, Penny, Sam, Tanya and Issy, we are coming together on Saturday 7th of September to walk 57 kilometres in one day to help raise funds for Neuroblastoma UK.
Sadly children who are diagnosed with Neuroblastoma face hard hitting and intensive treatment that causes them great suffering along the way. They endure the terrible side effects of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and intensive pain as a result of initial rounds of immunotherapy. They face massive life threatening operations to remove tumours and everyday struggles with medications, invasive procedures and NG feeds.
Please help us raise funds to support the children who face this terrible disease and be part of a more hopeful future for these children with better and more effective treatments.
