We realize that many of our neighbors are suffering the brunt of this crisis. Some will be excluded from the federal funds that were recently approved. People without social security numbers, for example, will not be able to receive the one-time federal payment or unemployment even though they and their families might still be facing loss of jobs and health crises. Others have lost their income because their jobs cannot be worked from home. While the governor declared a 2-month moratorium on evictions, many in our neighborhood are struggling to keep up with rent payments, and will face a delayed prospect of losing their home.
We are collecting funds to be redistributed to our immediate neighbors in need of cash assistance to meet their basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare, which are fundamental human rights.
All funds raised will be distributed directly to neighbors (South 18th street to South 24th street and West Pierce Ave to West Greenfield Ave) who are facing financial hardship arising from the current health and economic crises.
Funds are being raised and distributed by Vecinos Unidos (Neighbors United). Vecinos Unidos is a group of neighbors in Clarke Square that was formed in 2017. We are in the struggle for dignified lives and the realization of our community's human rights. We are committed to creating true change in our society.
Sabemos que muchos de nuestros vecinos sienten fuertemente el golpe de esta crisis. Algunos serán excluidos de los fondos federales que se aprobaron recientemente. Por ejemplo, las personas sin Seguro Social no podrán recibir desempleo o el pago único del gobierno federal, aunque ellos o sus familias pudieron haber perdido su trabajo o enfrentan una crisis de salud.
Otros han perdido sus ingresos porque sus trabajos no se pueden hacer desde casa. Si bien el gobernador declaró una moratoria de 2 meses sobre desalojos, a muchos en nuestro vecindario les cuesta mantenerse al día con la renta, y se enfrentarán a una perspectiva atrasada de perder su techo.
Estamos recogiendo dinero para distribuirlo a nuestros vecinos que lo necesitan para satisfacer sus necesidades básicas como la comida, techo y atención médica, los cuales son derechos humanos fundamentales.
Todos los fondos serán distribuidos directamente a vecinos impactados por las crisis actuales de salud y económicas.
Los fondos son recolectados y distribuidos por Vecinos Unidos (Neighbors United). Vecinos Unidos es un grupo de vecinos de Clarke Square que se formó en 2017. Luchamos por vidas dignas y el respeto a los derechos humanos en nuestra comunidad. Nos comprometemos a crear cambio verdadero en nuestra sociedad.
