Now she needs help. When Kaden became sick, she was off work for months with no pay. She still has to take time off work with no pay to care for Kaden through his surgeries, medical appointments, and prosthetic fittings.

The Tuesday after Christmas in 2022 her only child, Kaden, got air lifted to Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. When he was admitted his heart was at 4%. His heart, liver and kidneys were failing. He had Toxic shock syndrome secondary to strep A along with influenza A. The bacterial in his blood caused his leg and arm to swell. Here are just a few things that I wanted to add in this. This young man was only seven and was very active in karate and soccer. Kaden was just in the first grade at the time. The infection caused damage to his tissues. His entire right calf muscle was removed. He had hyperbaric chamber treatments to save as much as possible tissue in his feet and legs. Kaden ended up having both legs amputated. The left leg was done below the knee. His right leg was done above the knee. He will have revision surgeries on his left leg to shave the bone down as he grows to prevent the bone from coming through the skin.

Kaden has a long way to go. His mom will need a wheelchair accessible vehicle as well as a home that is more accessible. Kaden's mom wants Kaden to have an opportunity to once again be independent around the home. Their current home is not handicap accessible. Thank you for your continued support!
