Funds for John and family
Hi everyone. I am the mother of John Michael Booth IV.
Our son John was born with HLHS. Half a heart. He had two open heart surgeries within the first 7 months of his life.
Back in February (2020) he was set to have his 3rd and last open heart surgery. We later found out that his pressures in his heart were to high for surgery and would put his life at a high risk. The team of doctors and us decided that a heart transplant would be the best option for him.
John was on the transplant list for 136 days and on July 12th was blessed with a new heart! John’s recovery went pretty well he had a big set back with a rejection medication but was able to recover for it in 48 hours. John’s hospital stay was 12 days inpatient and he went home happy and very healthy.
Friday night July 31st John began to become very sick with vomiting and not drinking. I called our nurse and we headed out on a two hour drive to our hospital. We got here about at 12:30 am Saturday! John was looked at in ER and we were sent to the CVICU. Later that morning we found out John was rejecting his new heart. We had to sedate him and put him on a ventilator. His dad made his way here and John was starting to do better but as time went on we added more medications because he wasn’t staying stable. We finally used everything we could for medications. The next step we took was a hard one but needed to be done otherwise the doctor was saying he’d ended up in cardiac arrest so the decision we made was to put our son on ECMO. ECMO is life support. John will be on ECMO for at least 3 to 5 days to help his body heal.
With his dad being here there is no income coming in for us. We need money for us to be able to eat and pay the bills back at home. Dad needs and wants to be here for our son and it would take the worry and stress off of us to know we have money to pay or bills.
