My parents are the most loving and giving people I know and it just breaks my heart that their trusting nature and willingness to help was taken advantage of by a scammer. If you would like to help them recover some of their savings I know they would be incredibly grateful. Here is their story:
My mother received a call from an "attorney" claiming that her grandson was in a terrible accident that was his fault and he was being held in jail under murder charges. They explained that he was apparently texting while driving and the woman he hit was pregnant and her baby was killed in the crash. They said her grandson suffered lacerations on his face which required stitches and had a broken nose. Then they actually put a young man on the phone claiming to be her grandson and even calling her Grammy. He explained that he didn't want to call or tell his parents because they would be too upset so he used his one phone call to call his Grammy and Grumpa who he knew would help him. The attorney said he needed $7500 for bail before 9am the next day when he was set to see the judge. My Mom was so upset and worried and of course she would do anything to help him so she drained all of her and my Dad's bank accounts and deposited cash into the scammer's bank account. The next morning when the scammer called to try and get more money my Dad was suspicious enough to reach out to the family. We immediately recognized it was a scam as her Grandson was completely fine and at work that day.
