For those who are unaware of my 3-year-old son's situation, he had a traumatic injury to his eye. He had a 7 mm laceration through the cornea and a ruptured globe. He went into emergency surgery. He will now be going into surgery again next week for a retinal detachment operation. I'm reaching out as much as I can for help financially as I'm a stay-at-home mom and the cost of traveling with 4 children is not cheap. Not to mention, our vehicle decided to fall apart last minute. We need brakes, a brake line, and a front differential. We will need to stay down in Indy the day of his surgery (hoping to get help through a social worker). After Brody's procedure, as long as everything goes well with him recovering from anesthesia, they will release him and we will be traveling to Carmel the next day for a post-op check-up. If anyone has it in their hearts to help financially, I'd honestly cry at this point. My CashApp is kaydonhamm.
**I forgot to mention, as of now, he has severe scar tissue where the stitches still are, which in other words, he is blind.** He's scheduled in a couple of weeks for another procedure to have them removed. A lot of people have asked, and it's not possible to donate an eye! Now, it is possible to do a cornea transplant to restore vision. Unfortunately, Riley doesn't have anyone to do this type of surgery, so this momma is in the process of getting his detachment resolved, letting him recover, and going from that to resolving the vision loss. But our main concern is protecting the nerves and artery and fixing that retinal detachment.
**UPDATED INFORMATION** Surgery is Wednesday 02/04/26!!!! We appreciate all the prayers and positive comments from the community; it does not go unnoticed! For those still concerned, we are empty-handed for the parts that we need to get our sweet boy to his surgery next week. By the grace of God, we got help from a social worker for our stay overnight. Unfortunately, we need several parts to get us up and going! Our goal is at least $300 for parts and gas. Insurance also is not covering the medicine that Brody has to have. (I will be discussing this with his ophthalmologist when I see them.) I have CashApp (kaydonhamm), Venmo, and I will make a GoFundMe for those who have asked about it. I appreciate all who have reached out to make sure we are okay and who have helped through this horrible tragedy.
