Helping Brandon and Izzy ~ Fight the Feds!

Donation protected
For the last two years Brandon Lockhart and Isabelle Peltier, both California residents have been in a legal battle with the Federal government over cannabis cultivation charges. While States have been allowed to adopt regulations to oversee the legalization of marijuana, it still remains illegal under federal law. Laws that were written in the 80’s continue to guide the judicial process of enforcement of marijuana use and cultivation in this country. For the last year it has been court ordered that Brandon and Isabelle remain separated and relocated from their home and the community that they have helped in so many ways. With Brandon currently staying  in Southern California and Isabelle currently staying in Minnesota. They are continuing to pay legal expenses to keep fighting a prosecutor unwilling to drop or change the charges. With a looming trial ahead of them, any assistance would be appreciated.

During these increasingly troubling times we as a nation are going through, everyone's finances have been put through the wringer. Our Federal government spends a lot of money mass-incarcerating Americans in its “War on Drugs”, while seemingly unable to come up with the resources we as a country need to effectively fight this corona-virus pandemic and offer financial relief to hard working Americans. The pandemic has significantly hindered Isabelle’s ability to work, and with the August trial date currently unchanged, she and Brandon are desperately in need of financial assistance.

The consequences of losing in trial are extremely high. Both Brandon and Isabelle spent 2 year prior to the raid obtaining commercial cannabis permits, and were compliant under California law to be cultivating the number of plants they possessed,  however, despite this, both Brandon and Isabelle are facing 10 year mandatory minimums for having over 1000 plants on their properties. Obviously we believe the federal laws need to change and at the very least reflect the times we are living in. With over 32 states in the country having various legal cannabis programs, how can we allow people to smoke marijuana but still demonize its’ cultivation? It is outrageous that our states are left responsible for their response to a global pandemic, but under federalism every legal farm remains “a criminal enterprise” under federal law. We know everyone is struggling right now, but any help would be a blessing, and with their current legal team we believe they have a chance at fighting this.

Ways you can help: Flat Donation, but like mentioned before, we know times are not of the norm for so many people right now. So, if you cannot donate at this time, please, please share this with others.

Also, if you know Brandon or Isabelle on a personal level, you could write a character letter.  Please Message me, Amber Elbek for an address to mail the letter.
