Funds for bills and groceries while hospitalized

Hi everyone…As humiliating as it feels to ask for help I’m at a humbling place of realizing financial help will be needed. On May 3rd after dropping Skylar off at preschool I forgot to put my seatbelt back on. I crashed on my way home to go to work. My right front tire hit a pot hole, kicked me into the dirt and I was unable to get out of it while on the infamous and dangerous “S” curves of route 43 in Etna. I rolled my mother in laws vehicle multiple times and was ejected 25 feet. I thought I was dying and I don’t know how I’m still here, but I am.

I’ve been located at EMMC since my accident. My left leg was broken, five ribs broken on my right side, 5 staples in my head, and a severe case of Morel-Lavallee in my left hip, thigh and pelvis. I underwent a procedure today in which a drain was placed in my thigh and will remain in for weeks to drain all of the collected blood and fluid causing significant nerve pain and massive swelling. We pray it works because the alternative will be surgery that will not be a pretty recovery I’m told.

I’m discouraged and frustrated that I’m not already well enough to go to rehabilitation. Three days ago I developed a fever and chills and they realized one on my open wounds was infected. I’ve been on Iv antibiotics every 8 hours since.

Every day something new comes up. My blood levels will not remain stable and I’ve undergone 2 blood transfusions to date. My last one was yesterday and tonight while attempting to shower for the first time in ten days I passed out cold in the shower. My sister was in there assisting me thankfully and it certainly gave us both a scare. The lab was just here to draw more blood to see if it was due to more blood loss and low hemoglobin but we’re not sure just yet. I’ll update often as this goes on.

Truly my main concern is helping my husband be able to continue to pay our bills and provide for my family while I’m here trying to stabilize enough to get home. Keaton is working full time, caring for the kids with his mother’s help, still making it in to visit me every single day, and just trying to make it all work on his paycheck alone from here on out.

Once home I’m starting to accept this will not be an easy or quick recovery and my last partial paycheck was just received today. I will have no more money coming in until I’m able to return to my full time job. If you are not comfortable donating money I completely understand and will be creating a list of medical supplies that will be helpful to come home to someday as well as Hannaford gift cards for groceries or household items that can be sent to my home.

Please know that I want nothing more than to get home, see my children and hug them again, and get back to my job I’ve loved for over 4 years…But this is my reality right now and I’m just trying to financially survive it from a hospital bed.

Thank you to anyone able to help and I love you all for the outpouring of love and support already received via Facebook. Some days it’s the only thing that keeps me determined and motivated to fight through all the pain and obstacles of another day.
