Fundraising Walk in Memory of Moya McVeigh
Donation protected
Westside is a Netball club made up of women and girls whose strength and spirit on the court can only be outmatched by the strength of the friendships they develop off the court together. The woman responsible for starting this amazing club over 40 years ago was Moya McVeigh.
Moya McVeigh was THE Netball Mother of Northern Ireland. Not only was she the actual mother of two of our club members (Karen & Claire) but she was also at various stages of her life a Player, Coach, Umpire, and Mentor to the wider Northern Ireland Netball Community.
Sadly, Moya was suddenly snatched away from her daughters and her Westside family last year on the 25 July 2019 after having a massive stroke.
Westside has had a difficult year of trying to fill the massive Moya sized hole left both on the club and our hearts. In her honour and memory the club would like to complete a fundraising walk. As we approach the first anniversary of her passing, Westside along with other local netball club members will be completing a favourite walk of Moya's through Cave Hill Country park on the 25 July to the top of what's known locally as Napolean's Nose.
Westside asks you to please make a minimum donation of £5 (more if you'd like to ;) ) to sponsor the club member who has sent you to this gofundme page link to help them reach Westside's fundraising goal of £1500.
50% of the funds raised will be used by the club for things such as court costs and educating both senior and junior members in coaching, umpiring, and captaining courses. This will also help to ensure the continued success of the club and Moya's legacy. The other 50% of the funds raised will be donated to the charity Chest, Heart & Stroke NI.
