A Documentary Movie About A Bacterial Meningitis and Tuberculosis “TB” Coma Survivor Who Learned He Had Unlocked A Whole New Creative Skillset After Awakening.
August 27th 2004, Mohammad Hunter (Moe The Maker) began to experience symptoms that doctors diagnosed as a throat infection. With intense coughing, slipping in and out of consciousness and not being able to speak or write he took another trip to the hospital where they diagnosed him with an ear infection. It was only after multiple trips and persistence from his mother did a doctor notice him.
In the words of Moe’s mother “All was not lost. God came through. I believe he sent a beautiful Doctor dressed in pale blue who noticed him- like really noticed him. She didn’t hesitate in helping and she was the beginning of the end.”
“This young man doesn’t look well at all. Take him into the cubicle. Let me have a look at him!” were the doctors words.
It was then, Tuesday 31st of August, Moe was diagnosed with TB - TUBERCULOSIS.
On Wednesday 1st of September, Moe was told that he has “MENINGITIS OF THE BRAIN”
Thursday 2nd of September, Moe’s treatment began, as did his month long coma.
Saturday 4th of September, Moe went into life-saving brain surgery.
With unwavering support from his mother, family, friends and the professionals at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, Moe successful pulled through and eventually awoke from his deep slumber.
After an intense journey through rehab, learning how to live again after loosing all memory before the coma Moe began to stick his life back together through he events shared to I’m by his family and friends.
In 2011 Moe began making wooden toy boxes for his children and after support from his mother and his job advisor at The Job Centre Moe went self employed in 2012 making toy boxes and fitting laminate flooring.
“All my life, my art had been criticised—laughed at, even. I wasn’t very academic and left school without any GCSEs. Feeling lost, my mom suggested I take a life skills course. That’s how I ended up in a woodworking training program where I learned the basics of machine handling, small joint construction, finishing techniques, and health and safety.” - Moe Hunter
Due to further complications with his health, Encephalomalacia (brain disease) in is right frontal lobe, Clonic Facial Spasms, 7mm Chiari Malformation, Central Sleep Apnea and a Ventricular Shunt installed in his brain due to Hydrocephalus triggered by the Meningitis along side Syncope (regular dizziness and fainting). All a result of the Meningitis and TB. Moe was forced to place his business ventures on hold.
Whilst managing his health, Moe took the chance to build replica models from his favourite movies. From this, Moe has been able to build incredible memories being guests at Comic-Cons, building relationships with Hollywood professionals, staring on Leigh Francis’ (Keith Lemon) tv show “The Fantastical Factory of Curious Craft” and even getting his story covered by Drew Barrymore herself on The Drew Barrymore Show.
Moe is now ready to share his extraordinary story in a documentary movie, including events told by himself, close family and friends as well as bringing serious attention to BACTERIAL MENINGITIS and TUBERCULOSIS with interviews from professionals within those fields of work. Moe wants to inspire a whole new generation of TB survivors and thriving creatives to pursue their dreams.
