Hi, my name is Aleks and I'm fundraising to pay for the cost of an immigration lawyer. It's an emergency situation for my family of 5. I'm a single mom of four sons.

On May 26th, 2025 our Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) application under Family Violence (FV) category was refused. I got 15 days to respond to the refusal. Deadline: June 10th, 2025.

On that same day, May 26th, 2025, the federal court overturned a refusal on somebody else's TRP FV. There were no kids involved in that case. In my case there are 4! My divorce from a Chinese national is being processed/ hasn't been finalized yet.

Due to Family Violence kids and I lived in women's shelters, including 2 years in a long-term one.

Leaving Canada now would mean to leave two youngest kids behind as they cannot cross the border without the ABUSIVE father's permission. The abusive father is a Chinese national and lives in China. I'm the ONLY parent my kids know!

Separating us is simply CRUEL.

I'm not allowed to work for a year now as our Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds application (H&C) hasn't been assessed yet. Only after the assessment the officer will decide if I can be granted a work permit. I don't know when it would be. There's no time frame.

We survive through performing odd jobs and gift cards.

The refusal came as a huge blow... I cannot enroll my kids for the next school year, my youngest son, 6, ha special needs (non-verbal). He's the only Canadian among us. He's not allowed into any school next year as well.

Ages of three non-Canadian kids of mine: 10, 15, 20. The oldest one, just as myself, cannot work or study without a permit. He wants to serve in Canadian Air Force.

We've lived in Canada a bit over 8 years. It's been our home and especially kids don't know any other place to call home.

We need the immigration lawyer to protect us from harm. The law firm is asking for $5K upfront.
