Fundraising Support for our SGRE Teammate

Greetings,

My name is Darrin George and I am fundraising for a teammate of ours who has been fighting a severe case of Cancer. Chad Nigh and his family could use any support you may be able to provide as the medical bills are mounting. Any explanation I could provide will not compare to how Chad himself could explain the situation he and his family are dealing with from this terrible illness.

"My name is Chad Nigh. I’ve been married to my wife, Brenda, for 13 years. We have a beautiful little 8 year old daughter named Braelynn. I was diagnosed with colon cancer (adenocarcinoma) in December of 2018 at the age of 42 years old. The following year was spent doing aggressive chemotherapy, many procedures, biopsies and surgeries. Ultimately, I had to have my large intestine, rectum and a portion of my small intestine removed, and also left ''with a permanent ileostomy''. This in itself was life changing but by the end of 2020 our family was settling into our new normal. In March of 2021, I was getting to do what I love , working in the wind turbine industry again. In July 2021, my latest battle began . I went to see my primary care doctor and that night I was admitted to the hospital with critical liver functions. After a week of testing in the hospital and another ER visit, it was discovered I had stage IV metastatic colorectal cancer, specifically Peritoneal carcinomatosis, meaning diffuse tumors throughout the lining of my abdominal and chest cavity. Immediately, I started the most aggressive chemotherapy offered, which I am currently still doing. In December 2021, an oncology surgeon attempted to do a rare specialized surgery, known as HIPEC, to give me the best outcome for my situation. Unfortunately , he was unable to successfully do surgery due to the tumors being spread throughout the bowel and deeply embedded in the wall of the bowel. I will continue chemotherapy indefinitely unless a new trial is offered . Throughout my journey, the medical expenses continue with several dr visits, chemotherapy treatments, medical supplies and medications . I have been unable to work for several months due to my treatments and surgeries. My life continues to have new “normals” but I am grateful to be here still today and for the blessing in my work and family life . I continue to remind myself that nothing surprises the Lord, so he will continue to guide myself and my family through this battle. "
