Fundraising page for the 2026 Kira Farm Uganda trip.

My name is Sonny Hopkins, and I’m a 15-year-old student taking part in the Amigos 2026 school trip to Uganda. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where I’ll get to be involved in the incredible work being done by the Kira Farm Development Programme and help make a real difference.
The Kira Farm programme transforms the lives of young Ugandans by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to build better futures. Many of the young people Kira supports have faced unimaginable hardships – from losing parents to poverty and conflict, to dropping out of education. At Kira, they are given vocational training (such as farming, carpentry, and tailoring), life skills, and personal mentoring so they can return to their communities and make lasting change. It’s an inspiring initiative, and I feel incredibly lucky to be given the chance to see it first-hand.
To take part in this trip, I need to raise £2,500. As well as enabling me to take part, some of the money raised will go towards water and materials for village work and some will be donated to Amigos for ongoing community development projects.
I’ve come up with some ambitious fundraising challenges to help me reach that goal:
Challenge 1: Hiking the Height of Uganda’s Highest Mountain
My friend and I will be walking the equivalent height of Mount Stanley 5109mtrs – Uganda’s tallest mountain – through local hikes and hill walks. It’s going to take time and determination, but we’re ready for the challenge!
Challenge 2: Swimming the circumference of Africa!
Well… not quite the whole thing! The full circumference of Africa is 30,500km, but my fundraising partner and I will be swimming 30.5km each. We’ll be logging our distance as we go and pushing ourselves to stay on track!
Local Fundraising Efforts:
To support my fundraising even more, I’ll also be offering help around our local village – including car washing and lawn mowing. If you or anyone you know could use a hand, I’d love to help out.
My GoFundMe page is where anyone who’d like to contribute can donate. Any amount, big or small, will be massively appreciated and will go directly towards the trip and supporting the Kira Farm project.
Your support would mean the world to me, and I hope you’ll consider donating or helping spread the word. I’m truly passionate about this opportunity, and every bit of help brings me one step closer to Uganda.
Thanks so much for your support,
