Fundraising for York University's ASCEND program

The Black Star Collective is a Non-Profit Organization of a group of young diaspora professionals united in our mission to positively impact Ghana through philanthropic investments in initiatives being executed by reputable organizations.

Proceeds from The Black Star Gala will be donated to support the Advancing Scholarship and Capacity for Emerging Nursing Doctorates (ASCEND) program. ASCEND is a transformational partnership between York University in Canada and the University for Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ghana, where students from Ghana will acquire a Ph.D. degree at York University.

This partnership will help ensure nursing faculty have the advanced credentials and experience to enhance the education of the more than 300 nurses and midwives graduating from UHAS each year. This will help build a strong and resilient health system in Ghana to benefit Ghanaians for years to come.
