Fundraising for the Westpac Helicopter Rescue
This coming Sunday I will be running the Cadbury Half Marathon. Six months ago, I initially started training just to simply achieve a long-term goal of mine but this week personal circumstances have changed and I feel compelled to run it for a cause.
I am still in the process of absorbing what has just occurred but this week I was involved in an incident in the remote Southwest of Tasmania which required the services of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania and Ambulance Tasmania. I feel so incredibly fortunate that they were able to arrive at the scene within 1 hour of the event occurring and able to extract me and another member of our party out from the location to safety.
I cannot thank them enough, the incredible members of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter team from the pilots, doctor, paramedics, and the police who risked everything to coordinate the response in a calm and professional manner. Their work is simply inspiring. I’d also like to thank the three other hikers who attended the scene to assist.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania trading as the Tasmanian Air Rescue Trust is a not-for-profit organisation that needs funding for the best specialist equipment and crew training to continue its operations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Please give generously and share this if you are able to.
You think you’ll never need their services until you do.
