Half Marathon for Southampton & Winchester MNDA
***********************
*UPDATE*
Unfortunately the Southampton 1/2 Marathon has been postponed and I will no longer be running on April 26th, I will be completing a solo event instead.
It is looking like social distancing is going to mean that I will have a lot more time to run…
and since I was intending to complete my first half in April I have decided to take this up a notch.
Four half marathons in April - 21km every week.
The routes will spell MNDA as all of this running is to raise awareness and as much money as possible for the Southampton and Winchester Motor Neurone Disease Association.
It is at times like these when we have to put people who are more vulnerable before ourselves. People suffering from life altering diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease are extremely vulnerable to the virus as we have already seen. This is yet another reason to do anything we can to raise as much as possible to fund research.
I would be extremely grateful for any donations or support!

In April 2020 I will be running my first Half Marathon for the MNDA Southampton and Winchester branch.
Motor Neurone Disease describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord. With MND, messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles. MND can lead to muscles to weaken stiffen and waste, affecting how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe.
This devastating disease affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time and the Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on MND care, research and campaigning.
This year the Southampton University Medsoc has chosen to fundraise for the Southampton and Winchester branch of the MNDA as it's charity of the year!
To support the fundraising efforts for this incredible charity I will be running the Southampton Half Marathon on the 26th of April. I'm not a runner by any stretch of the imagination so 13.1 miles is going to be a challenge!
Any donations would be hugely appreciated!
