Fundraising for THE ANTI "YOGI" - 1 Woman Show

Hi! I’m Mayuri Bhandari, an Indian-American actress, dancer/skater, and storyteller (profile link: https://linktr.ee/mayuribhandari). I’m raising funds to continue touring my show, THE ANTI "YOGI", nationally, and across the world!

We had a successful premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2024— a sold out run, 6 nominations + 2 wins and RAVE reviews/press: https://www.hollywoodfringe.org/projects/10384?mode=media).

I’m thrilled to bring this production to an international audience! THE ANTI "YOGI": Liberation Not Lululemon sheds light on misappropriation of yoga in the West and decolonization. As an Indian-American yoga professor at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), I’ve seen firsthand how South Asian voices are often excluded from Western yoga spaces. Yoga has been commodified, stripped of its true essence, and reduced to a fitness trend. My show blends education and entertainment to expose this cultural "bastardization" and aims to reconnect people with yoga’s authentic roots.

This 60-minute solo performance is an interactive experience, combining dance, dramedy, live percussion (w/ Neel Agrawal), and poetry. I’m working with an incredible team for this project, including Co-Directors Shyamala Moorty (award-winning choreographer and director) & D'Lo (actor, comic, and producer), and Jessica Lynn Johnson (solo theatre veteran).

While I’ve performed at venues such as the United Nations (LA) and LMU, taking my theatre show to wider audiences internationally is a new and exciting journey. Your support is vital to making it a reality.

The funds raised will be used for travel and lodging to Edinburgh, theater rental (venue and insurance), marketing (graphic design and posters), filmography (video and multimedia), tech (lighting and sound), and staff (director, choreographer, percussionist).
