Fundraising for Sanjay Behera's family

Dear Friends and Family,

Our dearest friend Sanjay Behera and his family are well-respected and popular in the local Issaquah community. Both Sanjay and his wife Deepa are known for their compassion, giving and caring nature, helping others, cheerful and positive attitude, their humble lifestyle as well as their unconditional love and respect. Sanjay was especially well-known for his generosity, and never hesitated to help anyone in need – irrespective of whether that person was a close friend or a stranger. We still cannot come to terms with the fact that he is not amongst us anymore.

On July 10, a perfect summer day, our friends Sanjay Behera, age 47 years, his wife Deepa Behera and their children were visiting their friends in Bellevue to celebrate their daughter Saanvi’s 8th birthday, followed by some pool time with his kids and friends. Unfortunately, he suffered a cardiac arrest in the pool and lost his balance which led to him drowning in 6 ft. water. By the time he was taken out by his friend and given CPR, it was unfortunately a bit late, as oxygen supply to the brain was paused for quite some time. Sanjay was immediately taken to the Overlake Hospital in Bellevue and was on the ventilator since that unfortunate event. We all had high hopes for his recovery due to his fighting spirit and young age, however, he lost the battle for his life 14 days after being in the ICU at the Overlake Hospital in Bellevue.

Sanjay was the sole bread earner for the family, a loving husband and a dedicated father who deeply cared for his two young children, Shaurya (12) and Saanvi (8). He was full of life who was always seen out in the parks playing with children. The family has limited financial resources to pay for the piling medical bills, funeral expenses, and the other life commitments (mortgage payment, living expenses, etc.).  In addition, their daughter Saanvi is a special needs child with ongoing treatment requirements.  In order for her to sustain, she needs continuous specialized medication,  therapy, as well as ABA support.  

We are reaching out to you to support Deepa, Shaurya and Saanvi. Together we can help Deepa grieve her loss without having to worry about putting food on the table for the time being. She is strong, and we are confident that she will eventually figure out a way to support her children by herself. We sincerely appreciate all your thoughts and prayers, and would be forever grateful for your generosity.

Sanjay has shown his love and generosity by touching endless hearts, it is now our time to return the favor and help support his beloved family.

You will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Sanjay Behera!
