FUNDRAISING FOR READING SPACES IN LAUNDROMATS
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Ryland Adzich! I am 17 years old and I am the founder of The Creative Destination!
The Creative Destination is a teen-led philanthropic organization dedicated to creating creative outlets for underserved youth.
One of my main focuses is encouraging reading outside of the classroom in reading spaces in laundromats. The laundromat reading spaces I create serve mainly Hispanic/Latino families. It is my goal to fill these reading spaces with high-quality books in Spanish as well as books in English for children.
I have new laundromats that I have partnered with and your donation will help me purchase:
Colorful bookshelves for each space
Books in English and Spanish for kids ages 4-10 years old
Most families spend an average of 2.5 hours weekly in laundromats. Having books where children and parents can engage with each other while waiting for laundry allows kids to practice their reading skills and build relationships with their parents. Not only this, most elementary-aged children spend about 500 hours in school, compared to the thousands of hours they spend in everyday spaces like a laundromat. I envision a world where all children can achieve their dreams and become leaders in their own communities and it begins with early reading skills children can start in their local laundromats.
Help me create these reading spaces and promote literacy!
Thank you for your help and consideration!
