‏Political Prisoners: Reza Jabbariyan and Elnaz Eslami

‏Reza Jabbariyan, whose parents were executed as officers of the Imperial Guard in 1979, has long been active against the Islamic Republic. He was first arrested in 2009 and later released in 2020.

‏On January 13, 2022, Reza and his wife, Elnaz Eslami, who was seven months pregnant, were arrested at Imam Khomeini Airport and taken to Sarallah Headquarters. After thirteen interrogation sessions and prosecution by Branch 3 of Evin Court, they were charged with “assembly and collusion through inciting protests.”

‏During detention, Reza was denied contact with his wife and later discovered that she had suffered a miscarriage due to stress and psychological pressure. Both were sentenced to four years and four months in prison, serving one-third before release.

‏Following release, they were deprived of civil rights: banned from political activity, international travel, public employment, and even basic banking services. They were also harassed, particularly Elnaz, who faced threats and indecent propositions.

‏Authorities confiscated large sums of money, along with their phones and laptops, which have not been returned.
