Family, Friends and to anyone that wants to help and support.
Recently, something happened to a great guy Neil Reader who is a great dad to Riley and amazing partner to Natalie Goss.
I want to share this story with you in the hopes that you can join me in helping this special family and give them as much support and encouragement to get stronger and keep going.
Many of you know Neil as he has helped so many people on Beauport Caravan Park in Hastings as he has his own business named Reader Recovery & Mobile Mechanics. He has always gone out of his way to help everyone with reasonable prices and quick, reliable services.
About a year ago Neil was diagnosed with MOG disease/optic neuritis which is very rare. MOG antibody disease (MOGAD) is a neurological, immune-mediated disorder in which there is inflammation in the optic nerve, spinal cord and/or brain.
Neil was told he had about 5 years before he could loose his sight. Natalie and Neil was trying to keep positive and living live to his fullest and are expecting a little boy on November 17th.
Unfortunately Neil relapsed on Tuesday 23rd July and hasn’t been able to return home. He has lost his eyesight in both eyes and now some of his mobility. He has started the symptom of paralysis and has lost the feeling in his legs and from the waist down so he is now unable to do anything on his own and struggling to adapt to these new challenges, he has also slowly lost the functions in his arms. Natalie is doing as much as she can to support him.
Unfortunately due to this awful disease there are very limited treatments that can help or support him. They have tried to do a steroid treatment which he has already had but nothing improved.
I am determined to help Natalie, Neil and their family and support them in anyway we can we there it’s money for some medical equipment that Neil will possibly need in the future.
So please stick with us and help us give them anything we can do as a community.
