Fundraising for Neelmani Singh's family

Dear Friends and Family,

It deeply saddens us to say that our dearest Neelmani is no longer with us. We would always remember Neelmani as a jovial soul who brightened up any gathering with his upbeat spirit and zest for life. He built countless friendships in his lifetime through his helping and outgoing nature. It is hard to believe such a kind person was taken away from us in a sudden freak accident.

Neelmani came from a humble background and braved difficult odds in life. Through his relentless hard work, he cleared IIT-JEE to study Computer Science at IIT Bombay, one of the best schools in the nation. After graduation, Neelmani worked at a handful of companies and also had a stint at his own start-up. Never satisfied with anything less than the best, he later moved to the San Francisco bay area, completed a graduate degree from Stanford university and was working as an engineer at Apple. Even on the personal front, Neelmani and his wife, Mrinal, had quite a remarkable journey and were exemplary in their love and commitment to each other.

Neelmani and Mrinal had recently bought and moved into their first home. While they were in the pool of this new house, Neelmani suffered from a freak accident and started drowning. Mrinal was there and tried to help him but she couldn’t swim either and was unable to retrieve him. Finally, a neighbor helped retrieve Neelmani from the pool but by that time he had been without oxygen for too long. He was rushed to the hospital and put on life support but the damage to his brain was too severe and he lost the battle for his life. It is heartbreaking that such a remarkable story of success and happy union, starting from a middle-class family in India to a successful engineer at a prestigious company in the Silicon valley, came to such a tragic and untimely end. 

Neelmani - a loving husband, son and brother is survived by Mrinal, two sisters and old parents. Neelmani's parents were financially dependent on him and his young sister is still pursuing her education. We are reaching out to you to support Mrinal and Neelmani's family. Together we can help them grieve for their loss without having to worry about any financial woes ahead. They are strong and we are confident that they will eventually figure out a way but any help now would go a long way in supporting them in this time of need.

Neelmani has touched many lives and hearts during his life. It is now our time to return the favor and help support his beloved family. Neelmani - you will be sorely missed and will always live in our memories of happy times. May your soul rest in peace!
