Meet Nathan - a brilliant, rambunctious, and lovable 9 year old from Davis (recently moved from Stockton), CA. Nathan is the kind of kid that lights up an entire room with his boundless energy. The kid that teachers remember forever. The kid that makes you laugh when you remember the time he took apart your <insert mechanical/electronic device here>.
In June of this year, Nathan started having stomach pain. The pain became severe enough that his parents, Josh and Kelly, took him to the ER. After many scans, a middle-of-the-night transfer to UC Davis Children's Hospital, surgery, and still more scans, Nathan was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Treatment is expected to take several months with many rounds of chemo and long hospital stays. Throughout all of this, Nathan has remained in good spirits, and is an inspiration.
Nathan's mom, Kelly, is a tireless advocate for veterans and military caregivers through her volunteer work with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and Team RWB. His dad, Josh, is a combat veteran who served in Iraq. Nathan has two siblings, Will (11) and Grace (5), who are holding up the best they can with all the uncertainty of having their brother in and out of the hospital on top of a global pandemic.
To manage Nathan’s medical care and caring for the entire family, Kelly is taking a leave from work, and the bills are starting to add up. We've created this fundraiser to help defray the unexpected costs that come up - insurance co-pays, travel and accommodations for treatment, etc. so that Josh and Kelly can focus on Nathan's treatment and recovery.
Thank you so much for your support - any amount donated is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share widely.
