"I’m Seeking Help to Recover From a Robbery"
Writing this is incredibly difficult for me, but I find myself in a situation where I need to reach out to the community for support.
Since the end of May, I’ve been out of work. I’ve applied for hundreds — if not thousands — of jobs, but despite my efforts, nothing has yet come through. I am hopeful that this will eventually change, but the job market is tough.
With my son’s 3rd year university tuition looming, I turned to my personal collection of Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) Gold Coins (from 1912-1914) that I had been saving. These coins are not just valuable — they are irreplaceable pieces of Canadian history and my collection.
But, on June 11, my world was turned upside down. I was robbed of these six beautiful coins. A man I met at a local Tim Horton’s grabbed the box of coins and fled. I didn’t have a chance to stop him. Not a chance. Right across the intersection and traffic.
I’ve filed a police report, and we have his photo, video footage, and plenty of false information from him, but I’m still in shock. I’ve also reached out to my insurance company and I’m still waiting for an answer from them. It’s already been a long painful process.
I can’t put into words how devastating this is. I lie awake most nights replaying everything, wondering if there was something more I could’ve done. I know that the blame is on me, I did not do this transaction correctly and that is my fault. I’ve conducted thousands of transactions and never had an issue until this one. It’s beyond painful.
Now, I’m trying to raise $10,000 for the following reasons:
1. To help pay for my son’s tuition for his third year of university.
2. To offer a reward for the return of the stolen coins or information on the thief.
3. To hire a private investigator to help track down the thief.
I know times are tough for everyone, and anything you can offer will mean more to me than words can express.
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity and support.
It is truly appreciated.
