Fundraising for Medically Necessary Equipment

Hi, my name is Maylan and I’m fundraising for medical expenses, namely, an electric hoyer lift and seat elevator.

Recently, due to a huge life transition, I find myself in need of an electric hoyer lift to better help my nurses transfer me into my bed, wheelchair, and shower for all daily routines. Unfortunately, insurances do not cover these expenses and so I have invested in one to ensure I can receive care safely. My 24/7 care relies on safe transferring so I may continue to be independent and cared for. Plus, most, if not all nursing agencies require a hoyer lift in the home. The one I have purchased is a Bestcare Electric Hoyer Lift and it has retailed for $1,400. Any help towards the monthly payments on the device will be hugely appreciated.

Additionally, I’m in the process of having a new wheelchair built for me. However, my insurance has denied the seat elevator function which allows me to raise my seat up higher in order to reach items, press buttons, look over barriers, and many other things I would not otherwise be able to do at sitting level. The cost for the seat elevator out of pocket is $1,500. And unfortunately insurance has deemed this ability as medically unnecessary, even though it allows for so much independence and enrichment of day to day life. Please consider helping me out with this expense as well.
