Fundraising for medical expenses & recovery

Hi, many of you may know me as Pearl or Perla Isabel Ruiz. I first want to add that this is very hard for me to make this for myself. I’ve always been very independent but this is urgent and has no time for pride.

Everyone knows how expensive medical bills can get, especially when not having any insurance, since I’m in another country. I’ve always been the type to give a helping hand. I hope you can find in your hearts to help or at least share this.

Upon taking my first visit to Europe, I became very ill, I caught a sore throat that leaded to a high fever. As soon as I got better and went out one night, I returned to the air bnb thinking everything was fine. I ended up waking up at 9am to an excruciating chest pain that woke me up from my sleep.. I knew it wasn’t normal. Without knowing what to do, I just found the closest doctor and walked to it.

The doctors were alarmed at my elevated heart rate and wanted to call an ambulance. I denied because I didn’t think it was that serious, also being in another country without insurance coverage, just didn’t seem ideal. I ubered to the hospital instead. While fighting chest pains, I was waiting 3 hours to be seen until they ran some tests and brought me into ICU.

What they came to find out was the I had experienced myocarditis, which is the inflammation of the heart. The antibodies that attacked the sickness, also started attacking my heart organ.

Being the first time I traveled to Europe and also the first time in the hospital like this. I wasn’t expecting to be in this position. I had no idea about travel insurance and unfortunately will have to deal with all medical expenses as well as recovery after.

Even though a lot of European countries offer free care for their citizens. I don’t fall under that category.

I have always been the type of person to be genuine, give to those in need, help friends and family, kind hearted individual. Now I ask for the same favor. We all know medical expenses are a very high expense & considering my heart is in risk. It will help alleviate worries.
